These days it's really nice to stroll the half-a-kilometer distance from the railway station to my office taking a shortcut through the forest..

The Burger Quest

Things started when my wife mentioned she would like a cheese burger. My son happened to overhear, and of course he also wanted a burger after that.

So I set out to get takeway burgers from nearby hamburger place. It was Sunday night and to my annoyance they had closed just 10 minutes earlier.

I drove around in Mäntsälä - Shell, Juustoportti, R-Kioski, looking just for a simple plastic-wrapped prepared burger. Sure, all the places had a burger menu, but my budget was only seven euros while they wanted 15-20 euros.

Eventually, after wandering around with the car for 45 minutes or so and feeling totally frustrated, I remembered that there is a kiosk called Maja ("the Hut") in Mäntsälä. And of course they had just what I was looking for!

Another lesson for me.. if I want 24-hour service I should probably move to some bigger city..

An eventful winter weekend

On Saturday, we went to Lahti to see a hockey game. I must say I'm proud of how well the kid managed in overall through three rounds, overtime and penalty shootout, though he's only 2-years old. Too bad my team eventually lost.

On Sunday we went to Sveitsi.. directly translated to English that place would be "Switzerland", but it's actually also name of a nearby skiing slope in Hyvinkää.

The scenery is very nice at the moment.

A real winter

Today it's -21 degrees of Celcius outside, and I think it's just great!

New Year's greetings from Tampere

Ahh.. on NY's eve I was lazing in a jacuzzi with a really nice view to the city over Näsijärvi, and with all the new year fireworks blasting all around. Life as it should be! :)

Today it's time to head home via Ideapark shopping center. I hope the after Christmas sale is still on.

Do people reminisce in Standard Definition?

Though it's not really yet turn of the decade at 2010, I started thinking of getting a video camera as a Christmas present for myself. Photos are great, but then again - holiday videos are a classic!

The 90's was analogue VHS, the 00's was getting to digital but in Standard Definition. Well, admitted, I mostly just have tens of brief video clips that are recorded with mobile phones.. they contain a lot of good memories though some of them are in terrible resolutions, even below 640 x 480.

I expect the 10's to be High Definition era for me - though we still have 29" 4:3 CRT television in the living room..



PS. Photos I upload for this blog are purposely shot with a mobile phone, that will not change. ;)
