Shopping center Willa in Hyvinkää

A few quick snapshoots from the opening weekend of a brand new shopping center, Willa!

Hyvinkää outskirts

Here are some sights from Hyvinkää, "Nallevaarin Talo" (Teddybear museum), Vauhtipuisto (Speed Park), airfield and the Sveitsi skiing slope (from a distance).

"The One Day Thing" @ Hyvinkää

Ascension Day holiday well spent with the kid in sunny Hyvinkää! First a visit to the Railway Museum to see the "Old Saab cars Gathering 2010" event, then heading to the public "spring market/fair" event at the main City Hall square.

Finally we ended up to Hyvinkää Speed Park, to see (and hear!) some "everymanclass" racing action.

The event was called Yhden Päivän Juttu, seems that it's a traditional spring event endorsed by the City of Hyvinkää, for nine years in a row already.

Sincere apologies if my -ahem- direct translations are not 100% correct.. ;)

An eventful winter weekend

On Saturday, we went to Lahti to see a hockey game. I must say I'm proud of how well the kid managed in overall through three rounds, overtime and penalty shootout, though he's only 2-years old. Too bad my team eventually lost.

On Sunday we went to Sveitsi.. directly translated to English that place would be "Switzerland", but it's actually also name of a nearby skiing slope in Hyvinkää.

The scenery is very nice at the moment.

Along Salpausselkä

This weekend I took my son to the Finnish Railroad Musem, and then to Sveitsi in Hyvinkää.

On Sunday we drove to Lahti, to check the view from the ski jump tower. Then we headed for some play time in the Family Park (Perhepuisto) at Laune.

I think that Hyvinkää is kind of like mini-Lahti. Why didn't we move to there..

Dull dayz

It's been weeks since the last update, sorry about that. Not much is ongoing at the moment, no new travel plans.

I'm on a train right now, and it's awfully quiet and dull as I forgot my headphones. So I decided to kill some time by making a blog update.

Attached to this post are some pictures "in retrospect" from the highlights of these past few weeks: The Keragrilli near Hyvinkää (recommended for truckers), Linnanmäki amusement park in Helsinki and Pullman's Bar, in short "just another bar", but inside the nice architectural space of Helsinki's main railway station, which I seem to be so very fond of.
